      BLOOMINGTON — The daughter of an East Peoria woman whose body was found Sunday near a trail at the Funks Grove Nature Preserve and a man have been charged with . Funk's Grove Nature Preserve is an 18 acre tract of land within a larger parcel known as Funk's Grove, one of the largest remnants of virgin forest in Illinois. The grove contains mesic upland forest of the Grand Prairie Natural Division. Funk's Grove has been protected for years, however, the high quality forest is experiencing succession.

      Funks Grove is a historic community on U.S. Route 66 in McLean County, Illinois southwest of Bloomington. The grove for which the settlement is named, Funk's Grove, is a National Natural Landmark. Isaac Funk's Cabin Just inside the entrance to the cemetery is a large stone that once marked the location of Isaac Funk's cabin. Mike Funk, co-owner of Funks Grove Pure Maple Sirup, said the up-and-down temperatures are what they want. “The back and forth means it's been a longer season for us,” he said.
